April 25th, 2006 Knitting Purse Design #1: I (heart) Knitting

I (heart) Knitting Purse Design

This was my idea right from the start, and almost exactly like the the design I used for my “first ever knitting purse”:http://karissacove.com/journal/2006/04/18/past-experience/ for my friend Katie. The only difference is the wording — I’m not sure what to use: “I (heart) Knitting” or “I (heart) to Knit”. It would probably depend on how I put the words on the purse.

My concern with this design is that it may be a bit too bold — people may not want to wear a purse with a big message on it. I mean, I tell everybody how much I love knitting, but do the majority of knitters?

April 25th, 2006 Knitting Purse Designs

I’m in brainstorming mode trying to come up with designs for the fronts of my knitting purse. I’d like to get at least 10 different ideas to choose from, and then make my favourite 2-3 designs (at least to start with).

I’m going to be posting each of my little sketches, so be sure to let me know what you think.

April 24th, 2006 Bust-ed

24 Aprons

I finished up the “Bust order”:http://karissacove.com/journal/2006/04/22/bust-resupply/ last night and mailed them this morning — now it’s time to make some progress with this knitting purse!

April 22nd, 2006 Bust Resupply

The Foxy + Crafty ApronI’m dedicating the entire weekend to sewing Foxy + Crafty Aprons for Bust Magazine — I need to get the order done so that I can focus my attention on the Knitting Purse again.

(I started thinking about how many aprons Bust has sold through their “Online Boobtique”:http://www.bust.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=KC-APRON-P since they first started carrying them back in 2001, and I’d estimate around 1000. Now that’s a lot of hot pink aprons!)

I must, I must, I must, sew fast for Bust!

April 20th, 2006 Rosie’s New Leash

My dog Rosie is a big girl that likes to chase just about anything that moves, and every five months or so, she breaks the mechanism on her retractable leash and it has to be tossed.

When she broke it this weekend, rather than rush out and purchase a brand new leash, I decided to get crafty — I removed the lanyard off the broken leash, sewed a band of fabric to 6 feet of heavy webbing and made a handle at the other end, and voilą, Rosie’s new one-of-a-kind super leash:

Rosie's New Leash 2

(I wanted to make a pink one with heart fabric, but Kevin said that he would be embarassed to walk her with it! hee hee)
