My friend Steve gave me a bunch of old posters that were originally used in elementary schools to encourage children to read. I love the old school style of the illustrations and would love to get some of them framed. Here’s one of them:

A Lot To Give Thanks For!

My family got together for a festive Thanksgiving feast this weekend at my Aunt & Uncle’s cottage on Lake Erie, where we enjoyed roasted turkey with all the trimmings, apple and pumpkin pies, and homemade wine.

The beautiful warm fall weather kept the Lake warm enough to go wading. It was impossible to resist, especially since it’s probably the last time to enjoy the water until next summer.

I hope everyone had a beautiful Thanksgiving, and will be able to have a little bit of respite before the whirlwind of Christmas strikes!

Kawaii Goodies

Last week, I received a suprise package from my friend Tracy, who was teaching English in Japan (she came back last week, too!). The little parcel was jam-packed with all sorts of blissful Japanese goodies — plastic fish shaped soy sauce bottles, a silk scarf, candies….and this dish scrubber!

I just can’t believe how cute this little guy is! And how about these little Apple Head skewers!

My favourite is the expressions on their tiny faces.

Nintendo DS Pouch

My friend Katie had a Nintendo themed birthday party and it was a super-blast, to say the least! We did it all, played “Mario Dance Dance Revolution”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_Mario_Mix, visited each other’s towns in “Animal Crossing”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_crossing_wild_world, ate cupcakes frosted like “power up” mushrooms,and we even watched “The Wizard”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wizard_%28film%29.

In keeping with the theme of the party, I made Katie a clutch/pouch for her Nintendo DS. I ended up using some of the “vintage fabric”:http://karissacove.com/journal/2006/03/15/vintage-fabric-ripoff/ that I bought last month:

It turned out great, so well I’m going to make one for myself!

The “Toronto Craft Alert”:http://torontocraftalert.blogspot.com is a new blog for those of you who live in or around Toronto (aka the GTA, T-dot, or the 416). It’s a great way for craftsters in the area to keep in the loop about upcoming sales, events and art shows.
