After nearly a week of overcast weather the sun finally came out to shine for me today! I needed clear skies for I Heart to Knit Tote photos, and this morning I finally got the chance. I knew the forecast called for rain in the afternoon, so I quickly snapped as many photos of the totes as possible and crossed my fingers that most shots wouldn’t need retakes.

Luckily, I was just wrapping up the last of the action shots when the rain started to lightly sprinkle down.
Over the weekend, I’ll be processing the photos and getting the totes ready to post on “Etsy”:http://karissacove.etsy.com.
September 29th, 2006 Achooo!
I spent the whole day yesterday t.k.o’d on the couch. It started with a headache, sneezing and tiredness, but quickly escalated into a full-on aching headcold.

Anything productive was a no-go, so I curled up on the couch and watched more TV than I have in the past month! “Batman the Animated Series (Season 1)”:http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00023E894/ref=nosim/karissacove-20 was the appetizer, “The Prisoner”:http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FOQ03C/ref=nosim/karissacove-20 was the entree, “A Hard Day’s Night”:http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000542D2/ref=nosim/karissacove-20 was the main course and “Hustle”:http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FUH350/ref=nosim/karissacove-20 was dessert. Toss in “Access Hollywood”:http://www.accesshollywood.com/ and “ETalk Daily”:http://www.ctv.ca/entertainment for snacks and I had a pretty tasty day!
A new batch of “Pink”:http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=497381, “Olive”:http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=497379 and “Blue”:http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=388703 Knitting Totes are up for sale on my “Etsy Shop”:http://karissacove.etsy.com, and I’m just finishing up some totes in Purple, Peach and Green for posting later this week.
Fall is in the air again, and I’m busy sewing up a batch of Mushroom scarves for “Fred Flare”:http://fredflare.com. These are the brown stems, all cut out and ready to be sewn:

Next, the little mushroom faces need to be silkscreened and decorated with pink cheeks and white dotties, then sewn to the polar fleece scarves. (The scarves will be available at “Fred Flare”:http://fredflare.com in November.)
I had been anticipating the canadian release of the new “Built by Wendy pattern line”:http://simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=section/wendy/wendy.html through Simplicity since I had first read about it online a year ago. While fabric shopping a few weeks ago I giddily flipped through the Simplicity pattern book looking for the Built By Wendy pattern section, and my heart nearly skipped a beat when I found the section. I immediately knew what my first Built By Wendy Project was going to be: the Misses Coat! I purchased pattern #4109, the fabric and notions and headed home to get to work.
After I had cut into the pattern I realized that I had accidentally bought a pattern smaller then what was suggested for my measurements. As I read more of the pattern directions I discovered that there is actually 6″ of ease on the coat which means that the garment has a fit that is an extra 6″ larger than your measurements. This happy mistake ended up being a coat that fits me just right with out being too large. I also took in the sleeves about 4″ because I didn’t want the hem too flared at the cuff:
